About Ai Times Japan
Ai Times Japan was launched to question and speak out against society’s indifference and the media’s silence on the issue of biological child abduction and parent-child disconnection, which is rampant in Japan. The project aims to bring visibility to the issue by focusing on the voices of the victims and parties involved, as well as the diverse issues surrounding families in Japan.
Contemporary family issues have become even more complex due to the declining birthrate, aging population, and diversifying values, but intra-family issues are often clandestine and difficult to reach for support. Public media coverage of these issues plays an important role in telling isolated parties that they are not alone.
Our goal is to challenge the taboo nature of family issues in Japan, and to help society as a whole to develop support and understanding. We aim to provide meaningful coverage to inform our readers about the current situation and to build a society that supports everyone.
Reporting Stance
By not running any advertisements, we pursue fair and truthful reporting that is free from advertisers’ influence and discovery. We also believe that the voices of the people involved are the most trustworthy source of information, not one-sided news from those in a particular position or power.
